- Fluids: level and condition
- Undercarriage: frame, rust, exhaust, axles, suspension, steering
- Tires and brakes: tread depth, age, wear pattern, pads, rotors
- Test drive: engine, transmission, brakes, noises, alignment
- OBD-II scan: engine, transmission, ABS, and airbag modules, plus signs of cleared codes
